Roulette strategy? Is there one that consistantly beats the house? You are probably reading this page because you are looking to find a roulette strategy that can mathematically and instantaneously optimize your game play. For this very reason, many people have tried to come up with a roulette strategy that consistently works and brings you out on top every time. Also, for this very reason, hundereds of books on the subject have been written, most of them of questionable merit. The problem is, the math behind the game which is reasonably straight forward and calculates out to the same house edge at its very best every time, which as described in the roulette home page, at 5.3% for American roulette whereas, the European version of roulette has better payout odds with the house average sitting at round about 2.7%.
So what do I suggest for a roulette strategy? Knowledge, practice and discipline! Fortunately there are a couple of online gambling sites where you can go and catch up on some practice without gambling your hard cash. It has never been easier to learn the essential skills and to find what suits you best or to learn what is an absolute money eater.
For the beginner it is probably best to start by understanding the even chance bets. That is betting on Red Black, Odd or Even etc. Many seasoned gamblers central roulette strategy is to, decide whether to follow the wheel or whether to bet against it. Following the wheel is when you bet the same as color, odd, even etc as the last winning number being Red or Even. If the number was a 35, you could bet around or close to that numbers position. When betting against the wheel you would want to wait for say 5 reds to come up in a row and then place a bet on black, when black is, in all probability to come up soon, even though there is no mathematical logic or “sanity” in doing so. A roulette strategy which I have used with some success while online gambling, is to bet, in a Straight up bet on 6 numbers in a grouping in the area of the last winning number on the roulette table, leaving it there for a maximum of 5 times. If one of the numbers comes up in under 5 spins of the wheel, I then will remove all my chips and 35/1 winnings and start a new grouping in the same direction. If my number does not come up within five, then I will not place a bet for a while until I think that I see a possible trend. Again there is no logic to this but, if the ball has landed on the left hand quarter 5 times, while I was tempted to bet on the right after the first spin, there possibly is just a little bit of logic in betting on the opposite side, the longer it has stayed away, just for the sake of probability.
Luck can be illusive and when you luck is down, cut your losses early and rather go have a beer or go mow the lawn, (Nah! Not mow the lawn), and the opposite when your luck is running. Do not lose big when you lose and win small when you win. Do not play roulette for the fun of it, play to win. When gambling at an online casino and your have taken a couple of losses then, take a break, go get yourself a slice of cheesecake from the refrigerator and take a stroll or watch a bit of TV, come back and try again. If you lose then call it a day, because its not your lucky day. When you win, ride it hard and have a stop loss strategy whereby, no matter how much you have won and can afford to lose, do not give it all back just because you can afford to. Be disciplined enough to say. I have won $1000; if my winnings fall back to $800 then I will stop and call it a day with a profit in my pocket. As your winnings move up to 1200 move your stop loss roulette strategy to say $1000. You may be, no you will be, tempted to get back to $1200 and before you know it you are sitting with $500, at this point you will need to double your $500 to get back to $1000. Take your winnings and walk away, dammit! On the other side of the coin, know yourself or human nature for that matter. You sit down in front of an online casino on you computer screen with $1000, you lose $500 but now you have to, have to, have to, win back your $500 with the $500 you have left, so you lose the $500 you had left. Now you go draw more money…. No really! Lose as little as possible when you are down and win as much as possible when you are up, by having a roulette strategy that includes a stop loss.
A good roulette strategy is not going to make you rich overnight like winning the lottery. Do not have unrealistic expectations. The house has at least a 2.7% edge on you and if you win 10% then you are doing well, if you win 20% then you’re cooking. Have a preconceived realistic win target and a tight stop loss limit.
Stick to your budget. If you have $500 to gamble then, divide it up into five $100 chunks and play with $100 at a time. If you lose one chunk then it you should stop for a while, at least to go do something else for a while. When returning, do not have an the unrealistic expectation I mentioned earlier of winning back your $100 lost. Set a target at say 20% and take another break at the first signs of weakness.
Part of a good roulette strategy is to keep your wagers low. If you have $200 gamble then, bet no more than $5 at a time. If you want to bet big, then at least be in the position, where you have a big budget like, $4000, if you intend betting $100 at a time. When you start winning you should slowly start increasing your bets and when you start losing, pull back on the size of you bets and keep a tight stop loss. Learn to walk away. Have you noticed how a winning player at a land based casino will start receiving one complimentary after the next from the casino in the form of drinks, free chips or even the "honeymoon" suite. Casino management becomes your "best friend". Why?
